Why would you book a boudoir shoot?

Why would you book a boudoir shoot?

If you’re considering a boudoir shoot, the first step is to find a reputable studio that specializes in this type of photography. Loci Photography has been in existence for over 10 years, and is based in Pretoria with close accessibility to the R21 and N1 highways for any Midrand, Johannesburg, Pretoria East or East Rand clients wanting to visit. Always look for a photographer who have experience shooting boudoir and who make you feel comfortable and confident – this will only be beneficial to you end product. You can often find reviews and recommendations online or ask friends who have had boudoir shoots for their recommendations. See more of Loci photography’s incredible reviews here.

The next step is to contact our studio and chat casually with me on Whatsapp. During this consultation, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss your vision for the shoot, your comfort level with lingerie, and any specific poses or shots you’re interested in. I can also explain what you need to bring with, and also that the studio offers an in-house styling range that helps with your comfort level, so that you do not feel so exposed as you appear quite vulnerable in lingerie. My stunning range is called The Nicolassi Brand, and was handmade with love to support my clients during their shoots. These garments have stunning, strong shapes, lots of fabrics or glittery embellishments such as beads, all which the camera loves. This all gets explained when we get to talk about how to go about the first ideas for your boudoir shoot. A boudoir shoot is booked for many various reasons, often times it’s for a gift for the groom-to-be. To-Be brides often times use the boudoir shoot as a gift to give the groom as a wedding present. Often it is also used an anniversary- or birthday gift to a partner.
It could also be used only for yourself, to perhaps feel better again after a break-up, or any sort of painful event that happened in your life. This shoot does have a way to uplift you after any difficult incident, and it does empower and uplift you quite successfully. We often times don’t see our own beauty under layers of pain, so this shoot helps to give you a visual and classic memento of your moment in front of the camera, even if it made you unsure or shy at first. Any strength does indeed shine through strongly.

One of the biggest misconceptions about boudoir photography is that you have to be a certain size or shape to participate. In reality, boudoir photography is for women of all shapes, sizes, and ages. The goal is not to conform to a particular ideal of beauty but to celebrate your unique body and personality. So, why would you book a boudoir shoot? Because it certainly has its place in the healing of our complicated self-esteems.

On the day of the shoot, you’ll work with a professional hair and makeup artist to create the perfect look for your shoot. The artists I work with has been by my side for many years already, and hundreds of boudoirs. They will make sure that your makeup set suits your face shape, skin tone and personality well. You’ll then have the opportunity to pose in a variety of lingerie and outfits as we start to put together outfit choices and styling aides, with the guidance your photographer. While it can be nerve-wracking to pose in front of a camera, most women find that the experience is incredibly empowering and confidence-boosting. Boudoir shoots, is the following statement I make to my clients- the gift is the partner’s, but the experience is theirs.

After the shoot, it takes a few working days to edit and process your images well. What you pay for as a end-product, includes the special time after your shoot that is spent to make sure your images are of the best quality. You may also have the option to purchase prints or an incredible book as memento of your incredible product. These books are great reminders of my clients’ own beauty and strength.
