Using pink as inspiration for your boudoir sets

Using pink as inspiration for your boudoir sets

Using pink within the boudoir studio is a great idea, even if it isn’t the first thought that comes to mind when you choose sets of underwear or sleepwear, and even accessories. If you’re quite the girly girl you might be drawn to pink, and these days there are lovely pink choices, but in usual practice, it’s not the general color I see my client bring along.

I’m always excited when they do though.

I am not the biggest fan of pink myself, but when I started making clothes for The Nicolassi Brand to support the shoots I do for Loci Photography, I saw some lovely fabrics in pink and started using it more and more. It’s a color that comes alive on camera, and everyone that wears it, suddenly feels more fire inside of them. The pink just seems to liven up the shoot and the set and it all just comes together with the Nicolassi accessories that I have in the studio.

The Nicolassi Brand hosts a short block jacket in hot pink with glossy pink fringe that sway gently as you move. This lovely addition to the range has its own personality and always seems to frame a pink-clothed lady so well.

There is also a mid-length pink leather coat with different shades of pink, a longer collar that can stand up in a sexy way, and all of these pair well with the deep pink bunny masks I also have.

With a pink in a different shade and more of a purple undertone, there is a short tulle jacket in Fuchsia that adds stunning textures.

In a more muted tone, the Watermelon colored tulle coat is also a wispy choice for something pink and beautiful.

Even if clients aren’t big pink-fans like myself, they seem to enjoy the small doses of it, and the very vibrant hue of the short block jacket gives everyone a great personality boost.

I’ve recently also taken the time to add stunning pink ideas to a Pinterest board with some of Loci’s images, some ideas with the Nicolassi clothes and some found on Pinterest itself, so these make for great inspiration boards when you’re planning your boudoir shoot, as you could even end up choosing some pink for your sets – and the studio is all for it!

My clothes are made on my wonderfully trusting Elna sewing machines and overlockers, and recently I have gotten myself a Kingstar industrial sewing machine, a little beast to make it all go faster and better.

Loci Photography also has moved to a bigger studio in Rietvallei Park serving all Pretoria East clients, greater pretoria, Midrand, Johannesburg, as well as all of East Rand’s lovely people, as I am close to both the N1 and the R21 highway.
