Family shoots photographed in the Eastern Suburbs of Pretoria
I’ve mentioned in various blogs before, how some families just stick to my heart like strong glue, and you get to be a part of their lives in such a special way. The doctor who booked me for their shoot, have booked me before some years ago, her children were smaller, and suddenly – years have past and we get to meet again with all of her extended family for a great chaotic afternoon of kids running around, parents trying to gather them, and smiles for the craziness of it all.
So we used their garden for a new set of memories, went inside again for some gin as the rain came typically on a summer’s afternoon, and went back out again as it opened up 20 minutes later to continue.
Families are like a photographer’s gold, they are precious and will always use you as they have the need for images, if you treat them with kindness and friendliness and professionalism.
In the end we remember people for how they made us feel, not necessarily for the product they provided, and even though I pride myself in providing the highest quality product possible under whichever circumstances, I am pedantic about treated clients well and making sure they remember me in a fond way when I leave them again.
Of course it’s a business, my business – and I work at it, and for it, as hard as I can. But here is a human element to it, a personal factor, and that needs to be handled with respect. Being able to work all over gauteng for my shoots is a privilege, but shooting in Pretoria is extra special to me, as this is my home, where I create fond memories, and I am happy to know some of the best clients so close around. I have been a Fujifilm shooter for the good part of 7 years, and I love my system. I use the XH2 camera, and I’ve never been more in love with a piece of gear, ever. Check out its specks here.
