Family shooting in Pretoria
The plain old family shoot, is never just the plain old family shoot. Even though many family’s book me for shoots, and many families just want good images of themselves, it never just is about another shoot being done – but always about how good you can treat a client, and how well you can serve them even before you meet them.
Through the evolvement of technology, I had been able to chat with so many new potential clients over Whatsapp, where we get to familiarize with each other a little, they can ask questions about what to where and where to shoot perhaps, and this lovely family decided on the Pretoria Botanical Gardens for something outdoors, My clients are amazing, they trust me implicitly, something I never take for granted.
As a professional who has already owned a business successfully for almost 10 years, and have been a professional for well over a decade, I would hope that is where I’m at in my career. A place with some knowledge and skill that I can share with clients who want good images for their own memories as their children grow- and families change.
We had some lovely fun in the sun at the gardens, and I ended up being the biggest clown to the most important client of the day – the toddler who needs to be entertained well for some real smiles. The bond between these three ladies were lovely to witness, and I worked with their silliness and laughter to get a good set of images that showed some emotion, not too much posing, authentic smiles and laughter and their mutual love.
The outside environment proved to be a good feel for this shoot, as the bouncy nature of a toddler, needs some freedom and some space – I do feel it’s up to the photographer to make good suggestions on venues, if the studio will work or not, and convey that to people who trust your skill.
