Family photoshoots in Hartbeespoortdam.
What an amazing family this was! I had such tremendous fun with them, and a bunch of boys together makes for a busy time with lots of giggles. I don’t get to this wonderful area often, but family shoots in Hartbeespoort, or rather closer to Mooinooi, has a bit of a different feel. It’s not the city, and it isn’t a farm per se, but there any many orchards which are beautiful, and on that particular day, we had the strangest weather, with bouts of rain for ten minutes, and then opening up again to the bluest sky.
I love family shoots like these – children run around and just be themselves and families documenting something special that will have lasting memories. Fun grandparents, someone perhaps giving a yell at the children to come sit still – it’s all part of awesome chaos that we get to capture and I love being a part of that. I’ve always loved working with children, they have this cheeky way of just being themselves, and how much more innocent and real can you get.
With my work, I get to travel all over, I drive far and wide for all types of shoots, sometimes as far as Rustenburg, Middelburg or Vereeniging, and even though I stay in the lovely city of Pretoria, my work has never only been Pretoria-bound. My clients seem to hail from all over, even as wide as the East Rand, the whole of Johannesburg, parts of the Westrand – and this way, I get to meet new people all the time.
This was one of my last shoots for 2017, and what an incredible year it was. There were so many beautiful, and different shoots done, and when looking back at it – another great year past for Loci Photography. I’m sure 2018 will be great also, new things to look forward to!
