DOING MODERN PORTFOLIO SHOOTS IN STUDIO
Some people are pure and utter surprises when they come to visit me. Previously I had been able to do a shoot with the sister of this young girl that her mother arranged. The look was completely different and on location at the Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria. Her sister had such a great way about her, wasn’t shy at all and took to the shoot so well. So I naturally expected for the elder sister to almost have the same nature…
This incredible lady…..has something special that I couldn’t put my finger on at first, but it definitely grew on me. She has a unique vintage style and was there for all of it, and used it as a strength. Her mother messaged me, explaining how she is a bit more tentative than the younger sister, and how she should be handled in a different way.
We had a very cool time together in the studio as she just took my direction well, and her images showed her personality in such a delicate but true way.
After some time and more shoots done with her, I now know she is a muse of mine, as her delicate nose shape and the squareness of her chin, almost gives me a Renaissance vibe, and I love that sincerely. She is kind and sweet and almost timid, but she does have a quiet strength to her and I loved working with her, as with all young models that come to shoot at the Loci photography studio, whether it be to only get a boost of confidence through photos of themselves, or for the purpose of wanting to join agencies. She was a blooming flower right in front of my eyes, and the result is a unique set of images, that shows exactly who she is – a quiet beauty not even aware of how well she portrays on camera.
