A couple shoot in studio in Pretoria
This couple warmed my heart the moment they stepped into my studio. Two crazy attractive men, one with a soft presence, one with a smile wide enough to remember well, and very much in love. The Loci Studio was started to practise the art of photography, something I started to love as my practise into it grew, and When I started my business, it was obviously for business purposes, but little did I know that the people I would get to photograph, would have such profound impacts on me.
They all come with their own unique stories, and with their own reasons for wanting to have a session done, and this couple knew the unique challenges they faced within their own communities, and society, and still wanted to celebrate who they are in the way I knew best – with my darker, moodier studio style.
A shoot can have different meanings for everyone. Within this very week, I tried to take a photo of myself for a project, and it turned out a lovely image, but much more difficult than I had thought initially, to capture. I’ve gotten older, much more private about my personal life, and to capture who I am now, after some years of growth, seemed to take longer, and a bit more of a different approach.
I enjoyed these two tremendously, I celebrated their love with them, and I was happy together with them too. Recently I had the pleasure to photograph their wedding ceremony, and it was the most beautiful space filled with love and support from families and friends coming together to give them their blessing.
I do this job, for all kinds of people, I make beautiful friends through it, and I get to supply people with a gift that has all of the mushy loving stuff captured in a visual image – and that is priceless. A couple shoot in studio in Pretoria, and luckily it was my studio.
I have to mention my incredible camera brand which is Fujifilm, recently shooting with the awesome XH2, I haven’t loved a camera as much as this one. My Elinchrom strobe kit has been such a great friend in the studio, they are sturdy, trusty lights.
