Branding photography for clients
Something I almost never get to do, but which is an actual love of mine, is food styling. When I still studied as a photography student we were exposed to all types of genres of photography, and I know that working with people instead of inanimate objects would be something I enjoy more.
People share, and listen, and laugh and connect and give of themselves in a revealing way, and food or products do not unfortunately. But it takes some skill to organize and style images together well that still have an appealing effect to its audience.
I met these two energetic and smiling young ladies at the market held by Market on Main one Sunday, and was fascinated by their range of products set on using natural sweeteners as a way to sweeten their baked treats, instead of using sugar.
Many of their products are gluten and/or fat free, and it doesn’t contain any refined sugar which is quite a big movement worldwide.
I invited them for a shoot at the Loci Photography Studio in Pretoria, where they were able to do some headshots with me true to their brand colors, and brought some of their baked goods along for some food styled shots, which were my favourite to shoot. We used the elements of the baked good, such as it’s very own ingredients to add to the essence of each shot, such as a plonked puff of cocoa, some drizzled sauce, the smears of chocolate, or some bowls with ingredients.
My shoots are amazing, and I still love and adore working with people, but this was incredibly refreshing to style and shoot, and to put a modern product together for these girls to use for the building of their exciting business called Triple D’light. Branding Photography for clients is a wonderful way to get a portfolio of their visual representation to showcase to the world.
