In the beginning of 2017, I had been able to do my first portfolio shoot with one of Boss Models talented models, Elsa Hansen. Boss saw those images, after the shoot arranged through her mother, and through that I had been able to build such a great relationship, to shoot for them on a regular basis now. Boss has a great reputation, and carries various big names, for veteran models, and high profile influencers in Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban as well.
This amazing young woman, is Maria, initially hailing from Brazil. She has a different look for sure, and works the camera like none I have ever seen. She is lucky to have that dewy, sun-kissed look, and her images just turned out stunningly. Boss Models, has found a great one.
I’m happy to shoot with the girls here at my home studio, and in that casual way, we get to talk about posing, and how to put outfits together, and I get to help them, with no rush or pressure.
It doesn’t help alienating any clients, or making someone feel uncomfortable. Even if it’s an unusual pose, there is a gentle way of trying to explain what it is you ee, and helping them achieve it.Only when you understand posing well, and what you want to achieve, will you be able to articulate well, and have it come clearly across to your model.
I’ve always built on my own visual library, by watching fashion trends closely, and paging through magazines in book shops, getting ideas and images stored in my mind for later use. I would advise any artist wanting to do more fashion to do this, as it just makes your visual library stronger, and you yourself get a much clearer idea of what you want to achieve, and how to work with each model’s look more finely.
