Working with established companies is always an aim-, as you know how they value their reputation, and what they stand for. I recently received the opportunity to photograph young Elsa Hansen, an amazing model, signed with Boss Models, in Johannesburg.
Boss is a wonderful agency that represents various models, including previous Miss SA’s Tansey Coetzee, Melinda Bam and Rolene Strauss. There base is quite big, and they host from older models, to very young and fresh, starting out.
Elsa was an absolute dream to work with, she has a certain appeal, and definitely a very bright future ahead of her, if she manages it well. She knows her own mannerisms quite well, and took direction excellently.
Boss Models really caters for a big variety of genres, and their models get booked for a lot of advertising work, as well as ramp- and catwalk, and some get the opportunity to travel overseas.
It seems that I will be getting more opportunities to work with their new models joining their established base.
With Elsa, we were able to shoot at the Menlyn Boutique Hotel in Pretoria , a stunning venue with many different corners and interesting places to shoot at, with Anton Smit sculptures in some areas. The pool made for a spectacular shot and Elsa was more than willing to get the shot, and climb in.
All of the glistening drops and the striking reflection on the water made for something extraordinary and the blue of the water worked so well for something with a fresh, summery look.
Loci Photography will very soon have its own studio set-up, and it would be great knowing I could shoot with the models in-studio, for that different look as well. It’s all been an exciting, and different start to the year, and I am ready for the change. I’m grateful to be able to be part of the Boss Models suppliers, and I am really keen to be able to guide- and help the young models to pose, for good, impactful images.
