A family shoot in Pretoria, is something I enjoy, because for a big part of my life, since I’ve studied, we have lived in Pretoria, and I do live this city very much. Within my photography I love connecting and working with families, as they grow on you, while they grow together, and many families become regular or annual clients, and I treasure that.
It’s an interesting world – the world of photographers and making a living this way. For many it is only approached as purely business, and another way to make a proper income, for others it is that too, but still a great deal of heart goes into it, and I won’t upkeep it, if I don’t get to connect.
I love South Africa so much, because of its people. We have such a huge diversity, that when you’re in a store in a queue, you’re very likely to find people from all ages, races and ethnicities around you. In all of my travels, I haven’t seen it be so evident as here. I love that I get to work with black families, white families, indian families, foreign visitors – and somehow, I always try very hard to find something I can associate with them with and it can be anything.
This lovely, stunning family came all the way from Johannesburg, through to Pretoria, and the Irene Dairy Farm for their special family shoot in Pretoria, because it is such a lovely venue, and I knew we would be able to get good shots there with the children and trees and open fields.
The beautiful youngest, the little sister, was born with a weaker muscle tone in her legs, and has a unique way of walking. Her father said even though she has been going to therapy, the best remedy has been her elder brother, as he is busy and wants to climb on everything, and then sister wants to follow suit.
I loved this family shoot! Be sure to book yours while we still enjoy such amazing weather.
