For any family, I would go the extra mile. I believe family is special, and at the end of any day, we only have family to fall back on. This family was facing a difficult time, and they booked a family shoot with me at the Pretoria Botanical Gardens – because nothing beats the memories of everyone together, and everyone smiling and happy – and having some pictures of that.
We all just want for our family to stick together through any hard times, and when you’re children is still small, and don’t fully understand everything yet, the best we can do is to make sure their needs are met, and that they are surrounded by love.
I love the botanical gardens, I have used it for many a shoot, and a family shoot done at the Gardens make for a beautiful setting. We wanted the gorgeous time of day and set the time for the shoot to go towards sunset. Warm light was coming through the trees and spilling onto the grass, coming through flowers, and made stunning halos around the girls, perfect for being the angels they are.
Another family I have known for a few years, and have kept close to my heart. They make me happy every time I see them. Mommy always smiles, and daddy just adores the two little ones. I also don’t always understand the hard things happening in life, but I know and trust in the talent I have, to give families images of great quality, and that it should be a great experience too.
We should all laugh together, and even cry together, and even though photography has become a business to run more than anything else, it still stays for me – a chance to connect, a chance to give.
