A good family shoot makes me so happy, as it just works…everything goes well that day. This very special family was about to immigrate to America, and they had their whole family, and their closest friends, grandparents and godparents there for a special shoot to say goodbye, and to remember this moment by.
The little star of the show, baby Connor, wasn’t feeling too well either – the previous week heb was even in hospital up until that morning of his christening, and special permission were to be given to even release him from the hospital – so we knew we might get a very cranky baby for our shoot.
He toughed it out and actually did so well, and it made the day, so special, and even magical, as we know how important it was to all be together.
There is no price to be put on family shoots, and their importance. You can’t and probably will never know the true meaning of those moments and until you’re far apart from those you know, or if you have lost them due to tragic circumstances.
What we do when we have family shoots, is we make memories, we make sure no one forgets, we bring people together in a fond way, and we create ever-lasting products that you’ll never be able to ever forget, it’s timeless and priceless, and this family will always have this moment when everyone was together for their farewell.
I did this family shoot in their home, with the Elinchrom location kit, one light, and a f1.2 lens to make sure they are differentiated from the background. It worked so well, and the colours were beautiful.
A family shoot, is a gift, to everyone involved – to us getting older, and to children growing, and the value of it, can’t even be explained or calculated.
