Family shooting in the Pretoria Botanical Gardens
A sentence I’ve written many times, but it just works so well. This family and I joked together that we wished there was an AirBNB structure for clients to be able to rate them because I would definitely give them some points. They were funny and amazing and unphased and the kids joked with the parents and we all had a blast and laughed so hard.
Not all clients are leveled-up to do this degree but I’m still grateful for the many families i have been able to photograph over the years, and even though I feel I’ve become a great boudoir niche photographer, I’m definitely always remembering who started my business and these wee the amazing families I have photographed.
It’s a unit made up of different people and different personalities and everyone has a different story to tell and this is why I enjoy people so much. One of my most favorite comedians said that in a group and crowd people can become the most horrible versions of themselves, but when you meet them one on one, they are incredible – you can see the universe in their eyes, and I feel there are huge truth in that, because chatting a little bit with my people the time I am with them, is when I realize what binds us all, and there is lines that runs through all of us, it’s perfectly human and very loving.
Shooting in the later afternoon is usually when I would suggest a family shoot done outside, as we have the most beautiful light for these types of shoots, it’s more romantic with warmer light and the longer rays of the sun streaming through the leaves of the trees. Family shooting in the Pretoria Botanical Gardens is one of my most favourite shoots to do in Pretoria.
My work will never be of the quality it is if not for my support gear. I love my Fujifilm XH2.
All of my stuff just fits so well in my Manfrotto bag, and I never go anywhere without my camera straps from Peak Design.
