A Christmas shoot with lights, East Rand

With it being Christmas Day on the dot, I wanted to post one of my most favourites shoots this year – a christmas shoot with the best baby. Babies are awesome, and this one has such a big personality, and he is only one year old. If you’re a photographer, you should love bokeh – most of us do, and we really feel weird shooting more than f2.8…

When a background is differentiated and made separate from the subject – we purely love it, and it’s an effect, that is…effective. Also – who doesn’t love fairy lights?

So it being the Festive Season, we did a christmas shoot with a stunning family, and their beautiful boy. Some years ago I did a boudoir shoot with the mommy, and it’s still great when you get to have previous clients come back for a different set of images, especially when they have a cute new addition to the family.

We about clowned around to make this little one smile, and I snapped almost 20gigs full of moments that I just felt could work, in the hope that we got something good of this little one. In the end he didn’t disappoint and we made for beautiful images, and the background lights were spectacular.

I tried to have them be as far away as possible from the lights for the best effect, and we also tried and made their living room as dark as possible, for as little as possible ambient light.

He wasn’t too keen on his Christmas headpieces, but moments still happened, and we snapped away in the few seconds he still kept them on.

He has a brilliant smile, and a beautiful, fun nature, and this type of shoot makes my heart warm. I loved every second of it.

I wish everyone, the merriest of Christmases, Loci had a wonderful year, and I’m sure 2017 will bring such amazing things still!
